The case was heard at Naas District Court last Thursday

A young woman faces a charge of assaulting a Garda and theft, Naas District Court heard last Thursday, February 14.

Gardai allege they encountered Aoife Walsh with an address given at Langton Park, Green Road, Newbridge at her home on June 18 last and found her "volatile and intoxicated".

When they tried to calm her, it’s alleged that she fell on her couch and lashed out with her leg, allegedly striking Garda Niamh Redican in the midriff.

It’s also alleged that on May 26 last she stole items from Penny’s, Newbridge to the value of €57.89.

Both matters were adjourned to next Thursday, February 28. Ms Walsh is on bail and must sign on three times a week.
