Gardai appeal for witnesses to yesterday's fatal Athy collision in which a woman died after being hit by a truck

Appeal for witnesses

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 60s died after she was struck by a truck in Athy yesterday afternoon.

The fatal traffic collision took place at around 2.30pm, when the pedestrian, in her 60s, was struck by a truck at Duke Street. The incident took place near the Crom A Boo bridge.

The woman was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel but was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the truck was uninjured. 

It's understood the woman was not from the town, but is from County Kildare. 

An appeal for witnesses to the incident has been made. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Athy Garda Station 059 8634210 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
