Tributes paid to the late Tom McDonnell - a Moorefield GAA stalwart

The late Tom McDonnell

Moorefield GAA has paid tribute to one of its most well known clubmen - Tom McDonnell, who passed away last night.

"We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of our club president Tom McDonnell. Tom was a lifetime Moorefield member, a former player, club official, served as Chairman three times and was the present proud Club President," said the club.

Tom will be hugely missed by his loving wife Rose, sons and daughters Catherine, Martina, Declan, Tossy, Liam and Nancy, grandchildren, great grandchild, brothers Billy, Eric, Kevin, Joby and Anthony, extended family, neighbours and friends.

He will be reposing at his family home from 4pm tomorrow and from 4 pm on Sunday with rosary both nights at 8 o’clock.

Removal takes place on Monday at 10:15am to arrive at Cill Mhuire Church, Ballymany for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock. Cremation afterwards at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harolds Cross at 2pm.

Moorefield said as a mark of respect the Aldridge and Dowling Cup fixtures have been postponed.
