Passing traffic causes delays for Naas residents exiting their estate

Cllr Sorcha O'Neill

Residents of a residential area in Naas want an end to delays exiting their estate caused by passing traffic.

Local councillor Carmel Kelly wants a survey to be carried out at the junction of Morell and Monread Road (the area between the roundabout leading to Tesco/Aldi and the roundabout serving the Sallins Road/Millennium Park).

Cllr Kelly said the residents of Morell are experiencing huge problems trying to exit their estate.

“The problem is that motorists coming from the Tesco roundabout who have indicated that they are exiting the roundabout (and not all of them do) don’t always turn off their indicators or they don’t click off quickly enough.”

She said this means they could be indicating to enter Morell and this in turn has led to accidents and near misses at the junction as the resident try to exit on to Monread Road. The council said it will inspect the area but points out that a junction box is in place.
