KILDARE ANIMAL FOUNDATION: Have you thought of volunteering for us?

Some baby birds need feeding every 15 minutes when they are brought into us at the shelter — and we are looking for volunteers to help out

By now, many of you will have already set your New Year’s resolutions, and are hopefully sticking to them.

If you are interested in doing something new this year, you might consider becoming a member of our wildlife team.

We have again this week started taking applications for spring and summer wildlife carers.

It’s a voluntary role with one big reward – saving Irish wildlife!

Our orphan room will soon be filling up fast with lots of new admissions.

We will be caring for an array of beautiful native wildlife, including fox cubs, badger cubs, otter cubs, pine martens, as well as an assortment of baby birds,to name just a few of the species for which we care here at Kildare Animal Foundation.

We will see hundreds of mammals and birds admitted over the orphan season months.

To look after all our orphans, we require a team of committed and reliable wildlife carers to help feed and clean the youngsters on a regular basis.

With some birds, they need feeding every 15 minutes!

Being a volunteer is a hugely rewarding experience with seeing orphans come in very young or sick, watching them grow up healthy and strong and then finally seeing them go for release back to the wild where they belong.

We would ask volunteer carers to be able to commit to at least one shift per week from now until September (of course, holidays etc are taken into account).

Shifts are available for weekdays and weekends with an option of 9.30am – 12.30pm and 1pm – 4pm.

Volunteers can stay full days and do more hours if they wish. Full training will be provided.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and being a part of our dedicated and energetic wildlife carer team, please contact us via email -

If wildlife care is not for you then fear not!

We have lots of wonderful dogs and cats here at the shelter that need just as much care, love and attention.

So, if you want to try something brand new and didn’t know where to start then we have that choice for you. We look forward to hearing from you.
