REVEALED: The damaged Edenderry bog roads to receive upgrade works
Works are due to begin this morning on one of the worst stretches of road in Leinster - the Rathangan to Edenderry Road.
In the Edenderry Municipal District, Fine Gael councillor Noel Cribbin has given a broad welcome to restoration works in the locality, including at the Derries on the Edenderry to Rathangan road.
€155,000 will be spent in the Edenderry Municipal District with a large proportion of the work taking place for a week on the bog road between Edenderry and Rathangan. The works are due to commence today Monday, November 5, weather dependent.
"I welcome the report from our Engineer Mark Mahon as to where this additional €155,000 is to be spent and certainly the areas named below need to be upgraded as they are in a very dangerous condition presently, Cllr Cribbin said.
"I raised this issue at our last meeting and I am glad to see the council acting so quickly and they will try to cover as many areas as the can with the funding provided," Cllr Noel Cribbin said.
The following roads in the Edenderry area will receive attention under the funding:
L-1003 - Esker More / Cloncreen - Recycling by Contractor
R-400 - Coolagary - Recycling by Contractor
L-5025 - Derrygowley - Recycling by Contractor
L-5006 - Ballykilleen - Recycling by Contractor
L-1013 - Ballykean - 500 - Recycling by Contractor
L-1001 - Derries - 1 weeks work - Grading & Double Surface Dress by Offaly Co Co
Further work by the Tar Patching Unit will commence at various locations for the purpose of sealing up cracks on a number of roads.
