The map

There has been a positive response to the latest initiative to be launched by the voluntary group Naas Working Together (NWT).

The map of Naas town centre, with a shopping, dining and retail services directory, was made possible by a grant from Kildare County Council.

The objective of the project was to make visiting Naas town easy and enjoyable for residents and visitors to the area by highlighting the choices it has to offer.

Alice Fennelly of NWT said that the McCardle family from Northern Ireland requested 50 Naas maps for inclusion with wedding invitations to their daughter Naomi’s forthcoming celebrations.

“The family decided to host Naomi’s wedding here in Naas because of their love for the town and all it has to offer. Mum Angela got in touch with the Naas map team to request the maps which she felt will be a great help to the almost 150 guests travelling to and staying in Naas for the wedding celebrations in January 2019,” said Ms. Fennelly.

Businesses see the map as helpful in helping visitors to Naas get the most from their visit.

Other unexpected users of the map are some local schools who are using the document to teach children about their town, how to read a map and how use map coordinates.

Laid out in grid format, the Naas town map, shopping & dining directory, to use its full title, makes it easy to find specific shops or restaurants based on grid location.

Information on local historical sites are highlighted on the map in addition to leisure facilities like the Canal Greenway, the Moat Theatre, K Leisure and the Odeon cinema.

Parking arrangements are colour coded to encourage visitors to select a parking facility that matches their requirements and so minimise the possibility of getting a ticket. For further information email or phone 086 2331499.
