Kildare pupils enjoy an audience with RTÉ Lyric FM quartet

Pupils from St Brigid’s Primary school and Educate Together Kildare were treated to their very own recital with Lyric FM Quartet last week.

Carmel Hester from Lyric brought the Quartet to the library as part of their outreach education programme. on Thursday, October 4 last.

This is described as an engaging and entertaining RTÉ Lyric FM outreach programme of live music performances in education and community settings.

The RTÉ lyric fm Quartet is led by RTÉ lyric fm presenter Evelyn Grant (flute/piano); Mary McCague (violin/piano); Jean Kelly (Harp) and Gerry Kelly (cello).

All programmes are delivered within the concept of Life-long learning; “Listen, Engage, Enjoy” and the programmes are tailored to the individual settings.

The children got to hear an array of well known classics including When you wish upon a star, My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music and Doh – a – deer also from The Sound of Music along with Gerry’s Solo from The Swan and Jean’s Harp Demo from La Source.

And afterwards the pupils got to meet the musicians that make up the quartet.

The team of musicians visited primary schools, secondary schools, care homes and libraries across the county last week including Kildangan National School, Monasterevin Convent National School and Clongowes Wood College, Clane.

The talented quartet also dropped into the Holy Family Secondary School in Newbridge and brought some cheer to Naas General Hospital.
