Newbridge explorer, Vincent Butler was overwhelmed by the support he received for his new book, which was launched by Bishop Denis Nulty at Newbridge Town Hall on Saturday October 6.

“Sixty Photographs For Simon” contains 60 images that Vincent has taken while working all over the world as a lecturer aboard the expedition cruise ship, the National Geographic Explorer and as an Expedition Leader with Across The Divide — a British based trekking company.

All the proceeds are going to the Simon Community and so far, he has raised €8,000 for the charity.

“People have been so supportive. The sense of community here has been amazing. It’s really been fantastic,” said Vincent.

This hardback book has 82 pages and features an eclectic collection of images harvested from an extensive archive compiled over two decades. It was snapped up at the launch by many people for Christmas presents. The book is available in Farrell and Nephew, Newbridge and independent bookshops across the country except Easons. Priced at €20, it can also be purchased online from Irish Academic Press.
