Tree brings down Eir line onto road in Kilcock, but who is responsible for getting the tree removed?

Concern

A tree has fallen at Courtown Bridge in Kilcock bringing down the phone line down onto the road.

When a local passerby called Eir to report the incident, he said they "informed me that it was my obligation to call, wait for it, Kildare County Council to remove the tree."

"The tree has nothing to do with me, it’s not lying on me, but on Eir’s line, but Eir says I must get it moved. I’m just a passerby doing somewhat my civic duty," he said.

"I am annoyed that we all pay this company for a service and I reported it, as I should, and after a long time waiting on phone, they say it is my responsibility to call Kildare County Council to tell them to remove it - I’m astounded."

The Leader has contacted Eir and the council for a response.
