A delegation of top European parliamentarians visited Kildare recently to find out more about the horse racing industry.
A group from the European Parliament’s Agricultural Committee led by Chairman, Czeslaw Adam Siekierski, and representatives of political groupings in the Parliament recently held a breakfast meeting with Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) in Newbridge to hear about the importance of the thoroughbred sector and the dangers of Brexit.
They were facilitated by MEP for Kildare and first Vice-President of the Parliament, Mairead McGuinness. Here they are pictured in Newbridge following the meeting.
Ms McGuinness said the Brexit talks are entering a very intense phase and it’s important for her colleagues in the parliament to get an on-the-ground account of the Brexit challenges facing the Irish horse racing industry.
