The Little Way Cancer Support Centre's ‘Great Big Stitch’ was launched recently
Members of the public with an interest in sewing and fashion are being asked to give a new lease of life to an old piece of clothing, whilst supporting a local cancer charity at the same time.
The Clane-based Little Way Cancer Support Centre is organising the ‘Great Big Stitch’ in order to raise money for the organisation.
Those interested in taking part are being asked to work their magic on renovating a piece of day/party/evening wear.
The person with the most creative example of upcycling will win a grand cash prize of €1,000.
To take part, you must register your interest by filling in the application form, which is available from the Centre at 2/3 Village Centre, Clane; tel 045 902996 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You then email your ‘before’ picture to the centre. When your garment has been successfully finished, send in your ‘after’ picture to be in with a chance to take home the grand cash prize.
The competition is currently open and will run until Wednesday, November 21, so there is plenty of time to enter. Entry costs €10 with all proceeds going to Little Way.
The organisers will select a shortlist of entrants for inclusion into a charity fashion show which will take place after the competition finishes.
The competition is open to Irish residents aged 18 and over.
