Massive 450 Kildare home development gets green light

A picture of what the homes will look like

An Bord Pleanála has granted planning permission to Ardstone Homes for 450 new residential units near the Wonderful Barn in Leixlip.

The permission, involving 350 houses and 100 apartments, will have childcare facility, a new roundabout on the Celbridge Road (R404) and new access to the Wonderful Barn which is a protected structure.

The Strategic Housing Application (SHA) was due to be decided by April 26 but a decision was made by the board on April 13.

The houses will be near Rinawade, Castletown and Elton Court.

Ardstone’s Homes Managing Director, Stephen Cassidy says that working hand-in-hand with Kildare County Council they have achieved a positive example of fast track planning bringing great results to a community.

“We greatly welcome this new legislation which has given us the opportunity to rapidly deliver 450 new homes, each of which has been designed with a huge amount of attention to detail. We have collaborated with planners to create a vibrant and live-able community that at the end of the day our buyers can call home. Many of our customers are first-time buyers – we take pride in building a personal relationship to understand their needs. We are also keen to open up the amazing amenity of the Wonderful Barn and surrounding lands to the community," he said.

All Ardstone homes are ‘A’ rated – in additional to the environmental benefits, this significantly reduces the running costs for heating and powering a home for the new owners.

Ardstone is building 2,500 new homes nationwide in the next 3 years, and has 5 active developments in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow including 350 soon-to-be-launched new homes in Rathfarnham.
