Clane town bypass issue raised at Community Council

Tony McEvoy

The completion of a planned ring road for the town of Clane came in for discussion at the monthly Community Council meeting on March 26.

The issue was raised during a discussion on the Community Council's submission to Kildare County Council on plans for Nancy Lane.

Among the concerns expressed by the Council are the consequences of the major Sallins bypass on the town of Clane.

This was raised by chairman, Paul Carroll.

Cllr Padraig McEvoy said that due to easier passage into the area after the opening of the Sallins bypass, there could be bottleneck in Clane.

John Kennedy said they should encourage the Prosperous road bypass completion to help avoid traffic problems in Clane's Main Street.

Other members said that the bypass should be completed out in the Kilcock road area and the meeting was told the the Community Council has urged that solution.

Long time member and former county councillor, Tony McEvoy, said that it was likely that Kildare County Council would want more houses in the area to raise the income for a bypass.
