Gardai detect several cars speeding on N7 and in Carbury over Easter weekend

One driver was caught doing 139km per hour in 80 zone

Gardai were out in force in Kildare over the Easter weekend with one drink driver arrested in the Leixlip area and several other motorists detected speeding in Carbury and near the N7 roadworks. 

“Unfortunately some people are still taking huge risks in poor weather conditions. On Easter Monday Kildare Gardai detected three vehicles speeding in the Carbury area in an 80kmh zone with one travelling at an incredible 139kmh in driving rain,” said Gardai.

“On the N7 at Naas, just beyond road works a number of vehicles were detected at speeds of 139kmh, 146kmh, 147kmh in a 100kmh zone.”

Three vehicles were also seized for having no insurance, tax or NCT.

Fines and penalty points were issued in some cases and in others cases, court appearances and possible loss of licence to follow.
