New Naas community centre taking bookings

Monread Community Centre

The new Monread Community Centre, off Naas’ Dublin Road, will be accepting bookings soon.

The soon-to-open Monread Community Centre, located at Maudlins Road, Naas will be available for hire in the near future.

According to Noel Murphy, general manager of Kildare Sports and Leisure Facilities Ltd., which runs K Leisure in Naas and Athy, the Maudlins Road facility will be available for community groups, organisations or individuals.

It can be booked for regular or one off bookings for the indoor hall and meeting rooms.

The project was funded by the Queally family owned food processing company, which has operations in the area. The company paid for the project as well as effectively donating the land and the centre is located in a densely populated area.

Two Naas councillors (Darren Scully and Seamie Moore) have been voted on to the centre’s board of management and the board will also have a Queally company representative as well as nominations from community groups.

It’s expected that the board will meet on a quarterly basis initially, though this may change and it will have a two year term.

The centre will be used for activities and meetings hosted by local groups and payments for using it will apply on a tiered basis.

Charges will apply for these groups apply but these will only cover costs.

The charges for commercial activity at the centre are likely to be higher.

Those interested in booking the facility are being asked to direct any expressions of by email to email to
