Some local politicians have questioned the decision to make all parking free for two hours in off street car parks on Saturday, March 10.

The ‘amnesty’ applied to car parks operated or owned by Kildare County Council and was described at the time an acknowledgement of the impact the bad weather had on retailers.

Cllr Seamie Moore told a Naas Municipal District meeting last week that he was disappointed that the councillors were not informed of the decision.

“There was no discussion with us,” he said. Cllr Carmel Kelly suggested that there should have been better communication and claimed that the parking management company was unaware of the decision.
