Rhoda Bermingham, Karen Leigh, Helen Mulhall and Brian Kelly

Sensational Kids have been awarded €7,8863.30 in funding for a new type of therapy that involves horses called Hippotherapy.

The funds were awarded from County Kildare LEADER Partnership for the project which uses the movement of horses as a strategy for occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists. It works on addressing impairments, functional limitations and disabilities.

Sensational Kids’ occupational therapist Laura Kelly went to the USA for her training in hippotherapy.

The project will operate from JAG Equestrian in Rathmore. The funding will go towards the specialist equipment required to kick start the programme. CEO Karen Leigh said that they are delighted to be able to bring this unique therapy to children with disabilities in Kildare .
