Flag flying high bathed in light
The Irish flag is now flying high and illuminated at Newbridge Town Hall.
Independent Cllr Morgan McCabe is delighted with that progress has finally been made on this issue.
“My motion was passed at full council on the 30 of May 2016. It’s great to finally see it in action, I’d like to thank Kildare County Council for getting this done,” he said.
“It’s good to see the flag is also now illuminated and flying at Kildare County Council offices, this is also being rolled out throughout our county.
“I would also encourage our state offices, semi state, private companies and businesses to take ownership of our flag and fly it proudly for all us.”
Cllr McCabe had asked “that Kildare County Council would implement the new flag protocol for flying the Irish national glad and set the standard for all Kildare based state and semi state agencies to follow.”
At that time, he said this would require a programme to assist and encourage this outcome throughout the County and in so doing Kildare County Council would become the Standard Bearer Nationally.
“The new protocol is that once the flag is illuminated it can fly 24/7,” he wrote in his motion.
