Cllr calls for public car park at Station Road in Newbridge

Aras Chill Dara

A local councillor has called for a new public car park at Station Road, Newbridge.

At the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting on February 21, Fine Gael Cllr Mark Stafford made the request to Kildare County Council.

Cllr Stafford said; “There is a lack of car parks in the area, and it needs to be looked at.” He said a lot of people are parking at the parish centre as a result.

A suggestion was made that perhaps K Leisure could extend their car park.

Sinn Féin Cllr Mark Lynch suggested the integration of a ‘park and stride’.

A report issued by KCC said; “If the members can identify/agree on a suitable site near Station Road, the Roads Department can carry out a preliminary assessment to determine the outline costs of purchase, lease, refurbishment, and regulatory requirements and identify if funding can be provided.”
