Panto members, old and new, gather for book launch

Yvonne Foley and Caroline McMullan-O'Donnell

There was a terrific turnout for the recent launch of Caroline McMullan- O’Donnell’s book about the story of St Conleth’s Pantomime group in Newbridge.

Mary Donoghue (O’Leary), Pauline Byrne (O’Leary) and Rita Mc Cormack, who had been in the panto in the 1950s were present for the happy occasion.

The book, titled Butterfly in the Wings, is on sale in Farrell’s Book shop in Newbridge. The book was launched on Friday November 17 in O’Rourke’s Bar.

The author hopes it manages to help people remember the days gone by and jog a happy memory or two. It is particularly relevant, given St Conleth’s will stage its 58th panto next January, titled Rapunzel, making it the longest running panto on the island of Ireland. Over 120 children will be involved in 10 shows staged over eight days.
