Newbridge man on assault charge appears in court

The case was heard at Naas District Court

A Newbridge man was released on bail by Naas District Court this morning on the understanding that he would be going to Cuain Mhuire Addiction Treatment Centre in Athy.

Jamie Doyle, 30, who, the court heard, will be residing at 8758 Dara Park with his father was arrested yesterday, Tuesday, November 28 at St Conleth’s Car Park, Main Street, Newbridge. He is charged with Assault Causing harm on another man at St Conleth’s Car Park.Gardai gave evidence that he made no reply after caution.

The defendant was granted bail and the matter was adjourned to March 22 next year to allow him to complete a 12 week programme in Cuain Mhuire. The judge ordered that once he left Cuain Mhuire he was to sign on daily at Newbridge Garda Station, observe a curfew from 9pm to 8am, to provide Gardai with a phone number and “remain of sober habits”.
