Kildare County Council officials said they are aware of problems at the junction road in Prosperous village but they don’t believe a formal “traffic management plan” is the solution.
Cllr Brendan Weld had proposed that the Council look at providing a plan.
But at the November 8 meeting of the Maynooth Municipal District, he was told the Council would have to prioritise the main urban centres before villages like Prosperous could be considered. They also said the village “has a very small street network which would not benefit from a TMP.”
Cllr Weld expressed disappointment saying that the nearby school, would grow to a 1,000 pupils, from 500 now, and there were huge tailbacks.
Director of Services, Niall Morrissey, said they they were aware of the problems. Area engineer, Jonathan Deane, said there is work to alleviate the problems and there would be recommendations soon.
