Green Isle Foods, which is based in Naas and is Ireland's biggest frozen food manufacturer, has been shortlisted for an award at Bord Bia's annual industry awards.
Green Isle has a plant at Monread Road and will compete for an export award which recognises Irish food and drink companies which grow their business based on strategic planning, consumer insight and use of resources in overseas markets. The company exports products to over 30 countries across three continents, growing from six countries just five years ago supplying branded, private label and foodservice.
It is part of the Two Sisters Food Group, one of the largest companies in the sector in the United Kingdom.It sells to all retailers in the UK and to supermarkets in Denmark, Holland, Germany and South Africa.
Minch Malt in Athy (Boortmalt) is the largest producer of malt in Ireland and it has been nominated for an award recognising their commitment to sustainability by reducing the company's carbon footprint.
