Ninjitsu Special Olympics 'hell-raiser'
Naas club raises money with tough challenge

Young Alex and his dad Stephen Rooney with Pat Carroll and the Naas Ninjitsu Club present a cheque to Yvonne Maloney of the Special Olympics committee
Naas Ninjitsu Club put themselves through hell — literally — to raise money for the local Special Olympics team.
A team of 13 from the club, under the watchful eye of trainer Stephen Rooney, completed the Hell and Back course in Co Wicklow earlier in the summer and raised €1,400.
The club members trained for four months in advance of the event and Stephen, a seventh dan black belt, hopes the charity fundraiser becomes an annual event.
The team intends to do another event as a fitness challenge this autumn.
Naas Ninjitsu Club trains in Naas Sports Centre on Wednesday evenings (seniors); Thursday (children); Friday (self defence class) and on Saturday (family class). For more information on the club, which has been running for 20 years, call Stephen on 087 1213989.
