Zebra and pedestrian crossing upgrade works due for one County Kildare region.

Kildare County Council (KCC) said in a statement released today (July 9) that it will be carrying out the zebra and pedestrian crossing upgrade works in the Athy Municipal District over the coming days.

These works will consist of:

  • The pedestrian crossing near the Post Office, Duke Street, Athy: Upgrade of traffic signals, poles and traffic controller with minor civil works improvements 
  • The existing zebra crossing on the Fortbarrington Road, Athy: Upgrade of signals, poles & equipment, including some minor civil works improvements
  • The existing zebra crossing on the R415 near St Laurence's National School, Crookstown: Upgrade of signals, poles & equipment including some minor civil works improvements

According to KCC: "The works are scheduled to commence Thursday, July 10, 2025 and will continue into the following week commencing Monday, July 14, 2025. 

"The estimated duration of the works at each location is three to five days."

KCC added: "Traffic and Pedestrian Management will be in place during the works."
