Reception held for Italian Theatre Group La Rattattuglia at Naas Library & Cultural Centre

Kildare County Council was delighted to host a special reception at Naas Library & Cultural Centre, this morning, in honour of the Italian theatre group, La Rattattuglia.

The group hails from Casalattico, which has been twinned with Naas since 1991 and they are visiting Naas to perform ‘E Vissero tutti felici e contenti (forse!) at the Moat Theatre later this evening.

Speaking at the event, the Mayor of Casalattico, Ing. Francesco Antonio Di Lucia said: “Today there is a large Casalattico community in Ireland, so that there are now more of our people living in Ireland than there are in our town of Casalattico. At events like this, the renewal of the twinning of Naas and Casalattico, we feel at home. The people of Ireland and Naas are very friendly and welcoming. We have integrated very well here and we are very proud of our tied communities.”

Mayor of Naas, Councillor Fintan Brett said "It is an honor to host La Rattattuglia and witness the vibrant cultural exchange between Naas and Casalattico. This event underscores the importance of fostering international relationships and celebrating our shared heritage."

Presentations of framed wooden paintings and a photo, reflecting the ties between the two towns, were made to the Mayor of Naas, Councillor Fintan Brett, Chairperson of the Twinning Liaison Committee, Councillor Carmel Kelly and Executive Librarian, Kildare County Council, Evelyn Cooley.

Today’s event celebrated the strong bond between Naas and Casalattico, marking a significant moment in the twinning of both towns and the enduring cultural and community ties that unite them. This gathering celebrated not only the artistry and heritage of La Rattattuglia, but also the enduring friendship between both communities.

Also in attendance at the reception were Councillor Seamie Moore, Councillor Anne Breen, La Rattattuglia Theatre Group President Annaemilia Centofanti, President of Club Italiano Irlanda Angelo Vecchio, and Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Marco Gioacchini.
