A Kildare man is climbing Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Barretstown.

Michael Lipsett from Ballymore Eustace will be scaling the peak between June 5 and 12.

Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa standing at approximately 19,000 feet.

Michael said: "I do all my training in Gym Plus Naas, so that's where I will be preparing for the climb mostly."

Barretstown offers free, specially designed residential camps and programmes for children and their families living with cancer and other serious illnesses. Supported behind the scenes by 24-hour on-site medical and nursing care.

Since 1994, Barretstown has served over 125,000 campers.
