Author, broadcaster, and columnist Barbara Scully is set to bring her first-ever one-woman show, ‘Older, Bolder, Wiser’, to the beautifully restored 19th-century courtroom at Lawlor’s of Naas on October 17 October.

This informal event, in aid of Teach Tearmainn, a local women’s refuge charity, promises to be an evening of wit, wisdom, and warmth.

With only fifty seats available, it’s set to be an intimate and unmissable occasion. Barbara’s journey to hosting this unique event came about in the most serendipitous way.

After casually posting a video on Instagram while seated in the judge’s chair in Lawlor’s historic courtroom, dreaming of hosting an event there, she was soon invited by Lawlor’s of Naas to make her vision a reality.

Barbara commented on this exciting opportunity, saying; "I’ve always loved engaging with audiences, and the chance to host my first one-woman show in such a quirky and beautiful space is thrilling.

“This event is particularly close to my heart, as we’ll be raising funds for Teach Tearmainn, a charity doing incredible work to support women and children in difficult circumstances.”

Dee Nix, CEO of Lawlor’s of Naas, expressed her delight in hosting this special event: "We’re thrilled to have Barbara Scully bring her first one-woman show to Lawlor’s. We spotted her Instagram post and knew immediately that this would be a perfect collaboration. Supporting local charities like Teach Tearmainn is a core value of ours, and we’re honoured to be part of this important cause.”

Lawlor’s stunning courtroom, with its red leather seats and rich wood-panelling, will set the stage for Barbara’s reflections on life, ageing, and the unexpected courage that comes with growing older.

Audience members can expect an evening full of humour, relatable stories, and thought-provoking insights. This event will take place on October 17 from 7pm to 9.30pm at Lawlor’s of Naas (fourth floor, restored courtroom). Tickets cost €10 per person, with all proceeds going to Teach Tearmainn.
