A new extension to Baltinglass District Hospital is being planned.
A planning application for the site at Newtownsaunders Baltinglass was submitted to Wicklow County Council by the Health Service Executive.
Being proposed is the partial demolition of the existing daycare centre wing along with upgrading, reconfiguration, and extensions.
The remainder of the existing daycare centre wing will be repurposed as a six bedroom community nursing unit.
Also planned is the construction of new plant room over at first floor level.
A new standalone single storey daycare centre to the front of the existing hospital building is also in the plans.
13 additional car parking spaces are also in the designs.
A number of buildings on the sites are protected structures, such as the post box and the union work house.
The estimated construction value is €2.8m.
