An Garda Síochána have issued a traffic alert for Dublin city centre ahead of the Team Ireland's Olympic homecoming celebrations this Monday afternoon.
The homecoming celebrations for Team Ireland will be held to honour the athletes and their achievements outside the GPO on O’ Connell Street at 12.30pm Monday afternoon, August 12.
Thousands are expected to turn out to the free event.
According to a press release from Gardaí, the following traffic and travel plans will be in place from 10.30am Monday morning.
• A road closure on O'Connell Street from 10:30am to 17:30pm will be in operation today
• A single lane will remain open on O'Connell Street from 5:00am to 10:30am and from 17:30pm to 22:30pm.
Diversions will be also in place in Dublin City centre at the following locations:
• Northbound Traffic: Diverted onto Eden Quay - Gardiner Street Lower - Parnell Street
• Southbound Traffic: Diverted off O’Connell Street onto Cathal Brugha Street. Option to turn onto Marlborough Street or Gardiner Street Lower and onto Eden Quay.
Access to the Arnott’s car park is limited during today's event.
The LUAS Green line will be closed on O’Connell Street from 10:30am while the LUAS Red line will be closed from Abbey Street to Jervis Street from 10:30am this Monday.
"Gardaí will be on duty in Dublin city centre today during the event to assist and direct all attendees to the Team Ireland Homecoming Event," the press release also said.
"An Garda Síochána appreciates the co-operation of all road users during today's homecoming celebrations."
