Solar farm project planned for North Kildare region

A solar farm measuring 80.9 hectares is being planned for a region located in North Kildare.

Cadamstown Solar Limited has proposed for the project to be constructed on the townlands of Mulgeeth and Mucklon.

The application is currently lodged with Kildare County Council.

According to the application's description, planning permission is sought for a period of 10 years to construct and complete a solar PV energy development with a total site area of 80.9 hectares.

Tjis site would comprise of:

  • The construction of PV panels mounted on metal frames
  • Transformer stations
  • GRP units
  • Internal access tracks
  • Perimeter fencing with CCTV cameras and access gates
  • Electrical cabling and ducting
  • Temporary construction compounds
  • Widening of an existing entrance
  • Landscaping and all ancillary infrastructure and associated works.

The application notes that the solar farm would be operational for 35 years.

The export capacity to grid is estimated to be circa 56 MegaWatts (MW MEC).

In addition, a Natura Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of this application.

According to the business information website SoloCheck.ie, Cadamstown Solar Limited (which also trades under the name Cadamstown Solar Ltd) was established back in December of 2022.

It is listed as a micro-company whose primary activity is the 'production of electricity.'

The business has an address listed as 4 Kellyville Park, Portlaoise, County Laois.
