305 community organisations and schools across Ireland have received grants totalling €1,411,369.

Sixty-five Kildare organisations share in €318,619 as part of the Intel Ireland employee volunteer programme.

The Intel Ireland Matching Grant programme sees a grant of $10 paid by the Intel Foundation for every hour that an Intel employee volunteers at an approved organisation. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Intel Ireland will be donating over €1 million to community organisations across Ireland. In 2023 Intel Ireland employees volunteered just over 163,954 hours that were eligible to be matched through this initiative.

The 305 organisations include Clane Rugby Club, Gaelscoil Ruairi and Kilcock Celtic Football Club.

Since the inception of the Intel Ireland initiative, more than €12 million has been donated to charities, schools, sports clubs, social initiatives, and community schemes across Ireland.

Employees in Ireland make up just 5% of the overall Intel employee population but the Irish volunteering efforts account for 20% of Intel’s global grant amount.

Director of Public Affairs at Intel Ireland, Sarah Sexton, spoke proudly of the achievements: “At Intel Ireland, we are immensely proud of the impact our Matching Grant programme continues to make on communities across Ireland. By supporting a diverse range of organisations, from charities and schools to sports clubs and social initiatives, we are fulfilling our commitment to corporate social responsibility and making a tangible difference in people's lives. The generosity and dedication of our employees in Ireland, whose volunteering efforts contribute a remarkably large portion to our global grant amount, exemplify the spirit of giving back that defines our company culture. As we celebrate another successful year of giving, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work, and look forward to continued collaboration and impact in the years to come.”

Kirsten Foy Mooney, leader in Leixlip Scout Group shared her thoughts about the program: “Leixlip Scouts extends a sincere thanks to the Intel volunteers for their matching grant contributions, they have been instrumental in helping us sustain our operations. The grant we received has been a game-changer for our organization. By covering the running costs of our den, including essential utilities like electricity and heating, we've been able to keep membership fees affordable, ensuring that financial barriers don't prevent children from joining the Scouts. This support not only helps us maintain a welcoming environment for our members but also allows us to allocate additional funds towards purchasing scouting equipment and activities. The impact of this generosity resonates throughout our community, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and enables us to focus on providing a positive experience for our members”.

Throughout Intel’s 50-plus year history, volunteering has been encouraged and facilitated to make it as meaningful and impactful as possible with the Matching Grant programme now 15 years into its successful existence.
