Kildare town man jailed by Naas District Court judge over simple drug possession offence

The verdict was delivered by Judge Desmond Zaidan on Thursday, March 17 last.

A Kildare town man was handed down a custodial sentence by Naas District Court judge for a simple drug possession offence.

Judge Desmond Zaidan made the decision on Thursday, March 17 last in the case of Valentin Cernetchi, with an address listed as 6 Faindara, Station Road in Kildare town.

Gardaí said that the 22-year-old was caught with a small quantity of cannabis herb while he was at The Curragh on August 25, 2020.

It was also heard that Mr Cernetchi has five previous convictions related to post-2020 drug related offences.

The judge sentenced Mr Cernetchi to serve nine months in custody, and set appeal at €500.
