KILDARE: Why parking in Naas is costing more than you think

More than half of the money collected from motorists in Naas goes on administration costs - principally to pay parking services provided by Apcoa.

A total of €478,300 was paid by motorists to park on the street in Naas during 2023.

However €269,650 went on “expenditure."

Off street parking (in the Kildare County Council owned car parks) in Naas brought in a total of €232,200. However €139,570 of this also went on expenditure.

The busiest month of the year was July which saw €46,100 paid in fees.

This was followed by May when €45,400 was handed over by motorists to park on the street.

May was also the busiest for off street parking generating €29,900. However these figures could change when all of the revenue for December is known.

These amounts do not include parking fines.

Some 167 parking permits were issued, generating an income of €17,815 in 2023.

The information was provided by KCC to Cllr Bob Quinn at a Naas Municipal District meeting.
