Planning permission has been granted by Kildare County Council to Kildare Town Community Development Association for the construction of a two storey community centre.
The building planned for Maple Lawns, Bishopsland will span 680 square metres and will have storage sheds.
The site also includes a car parking area, a multipurpose hard standing area and sports pitches.
Landscaping and a new vehicle entrance along existing Meadow Court Estate Road are included in the plans.
The estimated construction value of the project is €1.4m, according to Construction Information Services.
