Fundraiser for partner of Kildare man tragically killed on M7

The late Keith Higginbotham with his partner Lauren and children

Funds are being raised for the partner and children of a Kildare man who became the first person to die on Irish roads this year.

Keith Higginbotham (27) of Blackditch, Nurney, Co Kildare, was a passenger in a car which was involved in a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision on the M7 at Curraghfarm near Kildare town on Monday, January 1 at 8.45pm.

The father-of-two is survived by his partner Lauren, daughters Lauryn and Cali. It also emerged that Lauren is expecting a new baby in coming months.

Keith was a popular figure on the social media app, TikTok, and was known as Higgy to his online friends and loved ones in real life.

Friends have now set up a Gofundme page to give financial support to Mr Higginbotham's partner Lauren and her two children.

A photo has been shared of Mr Higginbotham and his family in festive pyjamas taken at Christmas time.

A spokesperson for the campaign said: "We have set up this fundraiser for Lauren following her partners death. So many people have been wanting to help Lauren and her family In this awful time, so we feel this is the best way for people to help.

Lauren is now not only facing the grief that comes with such a tragic loss but also has to navigate being a single parent to her nine year old daughter, seven month year old daughter and a new baby due later this year.

"We as Lauren’s family would appreciate any help at all, even if it’s not in the form of a donation, we would appreciate all thoughts and prayers for Lauren and her girls during this time."
