A request has been made for traffic calming measures and signalised lights in a housing estate.

Cllr Nuala Killeen also asked Kildare County Council to review the junction at the entrance to Glen Easton in Leixlip.

She said this follows “recent near misses at this location.”

KCC  engineer Donal Hodgins pointed out there is a driver feedback sign provided on one approach in addition to traffic calming  on both approaches to the junction.

He told a Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting that four signal-controlled pedestrian crossings are provided within 1km of the junction.

“It is considered that the provision of a signal-controlled junction is not warranted,” he said.

He added that the location will be reviewed “ to consider what geometric modifications can be made” to improve how the junction operates.

He also said any future improvement works will depend on money being available.
