'A lot of life left in this boy' - Animal rescue seeks home for dog found freezing in river

An animal rescue is seeking a home for an older dog found freezing in a river.

Mutts Anonymous Dog Rescue and Adoption (MADRA) is hoping to find a family for River, a Springer Spaniel found "in a terrible state".

The charity describes the dog - who is approximately 9 or 10 years old - as "affectionate and friendly", with a love of jumping and walks.

Although River has some medical issues - he needs a full dental and arthritis assessment - MADRA has vowed to help his future family with this.

In a statement posted on social media, MADRA stated: "Above all, River is so grateful to be given this second chance. There is a lot of life left in this boy yet, and he could pretty much blend into any family that has a secure garden and lots of love to give."

Anyone interested in making River a member of their family can fill out an adoption form here
