The incident happened near Maynooth
A man was found wandering around a property by its female owner.
He appeared before Naas District Court .
David Kelly, 35 of no fixed abode was prosecuted for trespass at Laraghbryan, Maynooth, on March 30, 2021.
Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that the woman was put in fear by his presence and he was intoxicated at the time.
It was also stated that the man has 122 previous convictions including four for burglary dating back to 2012 and one for trespass.
The court was also told he was serving a sentence.
Barrister Mark Gibbons said the defendant has had a significant drink issue. He added the man’s best friend had died and “he fell off the wagon.”
Mr Gibbons described the incident as an isolated event and he also said he has secured a place in a rehabilitation centre on his release.
He said that prior to this incident the defendant had been sober for three years.
The defendant told the court that he was homeless.
He said he was travelling on a train that day between Dublin and Sligo and he was asked to leave the train because he was drinking.
He said he had never been in Maynooth ”in my life” and wandered into the property.
Reading from a prepared letter, he said he has three kids and wants to be a model dad.
Imposing a four month custody term which he described as lenient, Judge Desmond Zaidan said this was the best he could do.
