KILDARE: Woman had to be hospitalised after allegedly being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend

ALLEGED THREATS

A woman had to be hospitalised after being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.

That's what Naas District Court was told on Thursday, April 13, during an in-camera (in private) court session.

The alleged injured party turned up to the court session wearing a cast on a part of her body, and explained to Judge Deirdre Gearty that she had been romantically involved with the accused for a number of years.

The woman became emotional as she told the judge about the alleged assault, and also claimed that her ex-boyfriend threatened to murder both her and her family.

She also alleged that he took her phone.

After consideration, the judge said she was satisfied that the woman met the threshold for a temporary protection order.

Judge Gearty also directed gardaí to issue the protection order to the woman's ex-boyfriend.
