Unemployment rates in Ireland remain at record lows, with rates for unemployment among females dropping in the past month.
In March 2023 the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1% for males from a revised rate in February 2023, and down from a revised rate of 5.0% in March 2022.
It was down to 4.6% for females from a rate of 4.7% in February 2023, and a decrease from the rate of 5.0% in March 2022.
There was also a drop to 10.0% for persons aged 15-24 years (youth unemployment rate), from a rate of 10.2% in February 2023.
However, it was unchanged at 3.5% for persons aged 25-74 years from a revised February 2023 rate.
Commenting on today’s release, Conor Delves, Statistician in the Labour Market Analysis Section, said: “The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 117,200 in March 2023, compared with 117,500 in February 2023. There was a decrease of 14,400 in the seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed in March 2023 when compared with a year earlier.
The seasonally adjusted number of males unemployed was unchanged at 57,900 in March 2023, compared with February 2023.
In March 2023 the seasonally adjusted number of females unemployed fell to 59,300 from the 59,600 observed in February 2023.
