KILDARE: No money for parking spaces for Naas residents

COMMENT: What's going on in Naas?

Naas

There is no money available to provide parking spaces for people living in Millbrook Court, Naas.

The spaces are needed, Cllr Evie Sammon said, because  vehicles are parking on the green areas due to the lack of available space.

According to Kildare County Council it is possible to provide approximately four car parking spaces in the green area.

But this  but will involve the removal of three  trees and is estimated to cost in the region of €15,000.

Naas Mayor Sammon said that the green area is being dug up and while she did not want to see trees felled and green areas lost “there is not enough car parking.”

Cllr Colm Kenny said there are some twenty dwellings there and some of those living in the houses facing on to Corban’s Lane used to park on the road - until yellow lines were put down.

Town engineer David Reel said money would have to be identified and allocated “before we can do it.”
