Arrests have been made by An Garda Síochána in relation to an investigation which has been ongoing since 2021.
Gardaí in Tallaght, along with the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (also known simply as the DSPCA), seized 38 dogs which were being kept in 'inhumane conditions' near the Kildare-Dublin border.
A garda spokesperson said: "Four people have been arrested and charged as part of an ongoing investigation into the seizure of a variety of animals that were being kept in inhumane living conditions in Citywest, County Dublin, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
"The two women (aged in their 30s) and two men (aged in their 20s and 30s) are expected to appear before Tallaght District Court at 10:30am this morning," the spokesperson added.
