Man fined for pointing imitation firearm at a couple in Kildare

BALLYMORE EUSTACE

A fine was imposed on a man who produced and pointed an imitation firearm at a couple in County Kildare.

Daniel Dempsey, with an address given as Moanavoth, Rathvilly in Carlow, pleaded guilty to the offence before Judge Desmond Zaidan on Thursday, March 16, at Naas District Court.

On a previous court date, it was heard that the 43-year-old became frustrated with a couple driving in front of him at Horsepasstown in Ballymore Eustace, Kildare on February 11, 2021.

On the latest date, Mr Dempsey’s defence argued that the imitation firearm was actually a toy gun that belonged to his child.

Judge Zaidan remarked that the incident was 'not nice' and fined Mr Dempsey €500.
