KILDARE: No promise that controversial parklet won't return to Naas

The parklet at North Main Street, Naas

The provision of a new parklet has not been ruled out for Naas once the one already there is removed.

The existing parklet at North Main Street is to be taken away, most likely to be relocated at the new public park in Kerdiffstown.

A Naas Municipal District meeting was told that the removal of the structure is being planned and this work will need to be done early in the morning. Cllr Anne Breen asked for confirmation of any plans for parklets “in Naas in light of the decision to remove the current parklet in North Main Street.”

Kildare County Council official Pamela Pender told the meeting that work is likely to take place “in a couple of weeks.”

However when asked if parklets are likely to return to the town centre, Ms Pender said that public realm spaces will be planned as part of a project aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the transport sector.

She said businesses interested in providing a location for infrastructure should contact KCC.
