The Past Reflects the Future
Newbridge Business Centre is very proud of its historic location at the birthplace of the noted Scientist and pioneering campaigner Kathleen Lonsdale.
Kathleen Lonsdale was born in Charlotte House in Newbridge in 1903.
After moving to England as a child, she became a noted scientist and is best known for her pioneering work in the use of X-Rays to study crystals.
She was also a committed pacifist and noted campaigner for prison reform.
During her career she attained several firsts for female scientists, including being one of the first two women to be elected a Fellow of the Royal
Society.
Her achievements will be celebrated in an exhibition to be held in the Riverbank Theatre at the end of March.
