Pete is a two year old, male, small Shepherd Cross. He has a lovely calm temperament, walks well on the lead and is a pleasure to be with.
He doesn’t seem reactive to most dogs and is a quiet boy in the shelter. Pete has been vaccinated, microchipped (981020002392077), neutered and has had his worming and flea treatments. If you have an interest in adopting Pete, please visit our website kwwspca.ie Dog adoptions and complete the ‘Expression of Interest Form’
Are you free on weekday afternoons?
Now that we are coming into Spring this is an ideal time to consider some volunteer work at our shelter. We are looking for volunteers to work on weekday afternoons with our rescue dogs. This is very rewarding work in many different ways.
You get to meet a wide variety of wonderful and energetic dogs. It is an ideal way of dedicating an afternoon for exercise as our shelter is spread across nine acres of fields.
You feel part of a brilliant team of dedicated dog lovers, and you get to learn so much about dogs.
When dogs first arrive at our shelter at Athgarvan they can often be unsure of their new surroundings, and it can take a little time for them to adjust to meeting new faces and other dogs. The role of the volunteer is to build up their confidence with lots of love, exercise and attention. It is incredible to see how resilient dogs are in adapting to new situations. There is great satisfaction in watching each dog’s journey from arrival until they are rehomed to new loving owners. If you enjoy the outdoors in all weathers, don’t mind poop scooping, feeding and cleaning, and are happy to work with dogs of all sizes and breeds, we would love to hear from you. Visit kwwspca.ie and click into the Get Involved / Volunteers section.
