Additional traffic calming measures have been requested for an area in Newbridge.

Councillor Chris Pender made the call at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which was held on Wednesday, February 15.

The Social Democrats member put forward a motion urging Kildare County Council (KCC) to 'investigate and install traffic management and traffic control measure in Rosconnell, Newbridge.'

He said: "I have brought this up time and time again."

Cllr Pender also said that he had concerns for the safety of children walking through the area, and mentioned one incident in which a woman was hit by a car in the area last year.

He reiterated his stance by telling KCC: "Traffic calming needs to be a priority."

A representative for KCC said to Cllr Pender that because his motion was a traffic calming request, it would require a technical assessment.

However, he also said that his motion will be included on the list (of proposed traffic calming measures by KCC).
