KILDARE: Controversial Naas parklet is to be moved

The parklet at North Main Street, Naas

The controversial Naas parklet is on the move.

According to Kildare County council the parklet is to be shifted from its present location at North Main Street next week.

However KCC has not yet indicated where it will be moved to.

The council says that  alternative locations for the parklet are being examined.

It is understood that it will be moved to an alternative location in the town.

There are mixed views about the parklet initiative.

Cllr Fintan Brett has said many of the critics of the parklet project in Naas are the people who moan on social media platforms about other issues.

And many of them don’t get involved in community activities. But Cllr Carmel Kelly criticised a lack if information from KCC for local business about the project at the outset.

Another councillor, Anne Breen, has requested that it be relocated to a “more acceptable and suitable location.”
